Greener Gardens are delighted to offer a selection of effective control for Ants within the lawn and around the home.
Although not as harmful to turf as wormcasts, ant hills can disfigure lawns. They usually appear in summer, especially prevalent in damp conditions and should be dispersed by brushing the soil when dry. This will avoid smearing them on the lawn when mowing. Over time left untreated the lawn may become uneven. Ants can also damage roots which may cause yellowing.
Ants can be controlled by treating with either biological nematodes or chemical treatments.
We supply a ready to use ant bait station which has been specifically developed for the control of ants. The ant bait consists of sugar and honey combined with the active ingredient forming part of the special bait matrix which attracts the ants to feed on it and take the bait back to the colony. Colony eradication can be expected within 7-14 days after treatment, depending on the size of the infestation.

Application
Apply 1 to 4 bait stations per nest. Place bait stations next to nests where ants forage so that the bait can be taken back to the nest.
The bait station should be placed in a horizontal position where ants can be seen foraging for food.
If the nest cannot be found, apply 1 to 4 bait stations per 5 square metres.

Maxforce® LN has been designed to offer a highly targeted approach with a low environmental impact. The effectiveness of the active ingredient allows a very small amount of product to be used per nest. Being such an innovative product also ensures that Maxforce® LN is a low risk to people and pets.

Other DIY Nemasys Biological (Nematodes) Control:
Application Time: Typically April through to September
Control Product: Nemasys No Ants - environmentally friendly and safe for children, pets, wildlife and bees.
Mode of Action: The nematodes act as an irritant and the ants are displaced from their colonies.
Method of application: Applied via a watering can into the ant nests on the lawn.
Where ant levels are very high repeat applications may be required to prevent the ants returning to the colony.

DIY: Ant Stop® Granules (used as a drench)
Ant Stop! Granules are a highly attractive bait that ants take back to their nest to kill the whole colony from one application.
These granules are versatile and easy to use, reduces mess and waste associated with powder. It kills by contact, ingestion and by being taken back to the nest.
Application Time: When first noticed, a proactive approach works best. ANTSTOP!® Granules contain Spinosad, an active ingredient derived from natural soil bacterium.
This product is not designed to kill ants instantly, so they take the ANTSTOP! back to the nest and the entire colony is destroyed.

Notes: For application by watering can as a drench treatment:
Dilute 10 grams product with 0.5 litres of water, then apply to nests at a rate of 0.5 litres of solution per nest.
Tip: Create a hole in the nest first to ensure accuracy of application to the nest.
